WHH Pet Care Science Institute Unveils Key Findings: How Pets Transform Human Mental Health
Recently, Mars, Inc. collaborated with renowned mental health brand Calm to release an influential global survey on human-pet relationships, with deep participation from Mars' WHH Pet Care Science Institute, which provided professional support for the research.
As a key part of Mars' long-term "Pet and Human Well-being Research" initiative, the survey was conducted by YouGov across 20 countries and regions worldwide, gathering real feedback from over 30,000 pet owners. Dr. Tammie King, Senior Research Manager at WHH Pet Care Science Institute, noted: "The emotional reciprocity pets offer humans is far deeper than we imagine, yet often overlooked."
The research data is inspiring: globally, 83% of respondents firmly believe pets play a significant role in their mental health. In the Chinese market, 67% of pet owners reported that communicating with or listening to their pets significantly alleviates anxiety, while 70% admitted that simply having a pet's company serves as an excellent relaxation method. Moreover, pets are subtly shaping people's lifestyles: 90% of pet owners have interrupted tasks for their pets, and 89% acknowledged that pets encourage them to reduce screen time.
As a pioneer in pet scientific research, WHH Pet Care Science Institute has long focused on pet nutrition and human-animal relationship studies. These findings not only prompt the public to reconsider pets' unique value in mental health but also illuminate new directions for the pet industry. In the future, WHH will continue its in-depth exploration to deliver more innovative research results, enhancing the quality of life for both humans and pets.
